Once you've finished fishing for the day you should remove any remaining cut-bait from hooks and coolers and determine if it's worth keeping for the next fishing trip. If not, you should discard in an appropriate trash receptacle. If it's worth keeping be sure to place in an appropriate container or zip-lock bag and store in the refrigerator or freezer. If you forget to do this last but important step you will be greeted with one of the worse smells ever the next time you open your cooler to prepare for the next fishing trip. Cleaning a cooler with rotten bait in it is no fun at all.
